Ethical Guideline for Reviewers

  1. Every reviewed manuscript should be treated as confidential and its citation or personal utilization of the contained information by the reviewer should be avoided until it is published. The reviewer's report should NOT be sent directly to the author.
  2. If the reviewer is unable to review the manuscript, you must notify to the Editor-in chief by declining the review invitation which will automatically proceed through the electronic review system.
  3. The invited reviewer who finds out to have a possible conflict of interest relating to the topic of the manuscript, should disclose it immediately to the Editorial Board and make a request to be removed from the reviewing process of that manuscript.
  4. Every reviewed manuscript should be judged under the principles of fairness. Reviewer’s personal and subjective interests should not affect the reviewer’s decision.
  5. Any kind of contact or communication between the assigned reviewer and the author of the reviewed manuscript is extremely prohibited, especially during the review process.
  6. Recommendation from the reviewer to the author for the use of reviewer’s paper as a reference should be avoided.
  7. The reviewer who finds a manuscript that contains statistical analysis that is complex and beyond his/her experience and understanding, may indicate in the "Comments to Editor" box whether he/she would recommend the paper to be reviewed by our consultant statistician.
  8. In researches using human subjects or experimental animals, reviewer’s comment on the appropriateness/ethical considerations must be stated.
  9. The reviewer should stick to the JCS’s policy of seeking to preserve the anonymity of the authors.
  10. On the review page, there is a space for "Comments to Editor" and a space for "Comments to the Author". Please ensure both sets of comments are placed in the appropriate space. If the reviewer decides to "mark" a copy or upload a file with his/her comments for the author, please state this in the comments to the authors so that they know there is additional information they need to address before submitting their revised version.
  11. Reviewers should always try to provide helpful and constructive comments to the authors and a clear decision for Editor-in-chief to act upon.
  12. It is essential that the reviewer click the "Save" button if he/she wishes to exit the report before finally submitting it. Otherwise, none of the information that have been entered will be saved in the system. When the reviewer has completed the report and is ready to submit it, he/she may click on "Submit" button.
  13. All communications regarding the reviewed manuscript are privileged. Any suspicion of conflict of interest, duplicate publication, fabrication of data or plagiarism must immediately be reported to the editor.
